Mansang Resort City

Mansang Resort City

While the west coast of South Korea is densely populated with mega-cities such as Séoul, the east coast remains largely under-developed. Despite being difficult to access, nestled between mountains and sea, Mansang was a very popular destination among Koreans, known for its 4.5 km beach and lush valleys.

With this in mind, the South Korean government approached us with a particular task: design a city of 30,000 permanent inhabitants (including schools, hospitals, and entertainment centers) divided into 7 districts.

In collaboration with real estate developer Dundee360, we met experts in a variety of fields, such as marina developers, historians, local teachers, hotel managers or entertainment advisors.

The goal was to develop a modern, attractive city that met all the needs of its inhabitants.

By drawing on our experience in urban design and researching the specifics of the context, our team was able to develop a masterplan for the future city – a model constantly evolving with the increase in population and tourism.
